In play betting in detail

In play betting exists at Stake and is documented only through the rules that constrain it. The sportsbook policy confirms live betting indirectly but usefully: cash out covers selected singles and multis, pre match and in play alike, which establishes that live singles and live multiples are both available.

What the policy does not do is quantify anything a live bettor cares about. There is no published number of in play markets per fixture, no list of which sports go live, no stated bet acceptance delay, no minimum or maximum in play stake, and no suspension policy for goals, cards or timeouts.

We did not measure any of it, and we will not estimate figures that Stake has not published.

The mechanics that are documented

• Odds change handling. Three settings exist, Accept Any Odds, Only Higher Odds and No Odds Changes, and the last of these is the default for new customers. In live play that default is protective and also frictional: a drifting price will cause your bet to be rejected rather than accepted at the new number, which is the correct trade for most bettors but means more failed submissions during a fast passage of play.
• Cash out delay. Every request carries a deliberate time delay before processing. During a live market that is the difference between the number you tap and the number you get, and the policy does not state how long the delay is.
• Same Game Multi restrictions. Cash out is not offered on Same Game Multi at all, and if any leg of one is voided the entire bet is voided. Combining several markets within a live fixture therefore removes your exit route and exposes the whole slip to a single void.
• Palpable error. A bet whose payout deviates by more than 100 percent from the market average may be voided. Live pricing is where mistakes appear, and this clause is what allows the operator to take them back afterwards.
• Interrupted events. A postponed or abandoned fixture settles if it is completed within 48 hours, and is voided otherwise. That covers the suspended match scenario a live bettor meets most often.

Streaming and the second screen

Nothing in Stake's own documentation, on any page we could verify, describes live streaming, its sport coverage or any conditions attached to it, such as a funded balance or a placed bet. Treat streaming as unconfirmed rather than absent, and plan on watching the action somewhere else.

Similarly, no live match tracker, statistics feed or data supplier is named, so in play information quality is unknown.

Live casino is a different thing

Do not confuse in play sports betting with live dealer casino, which is documented far better.

Live dealer tables are confirmed present because rakeback explicitly covers slots, table games and live dealer games, per the rakeback article, and two live suppliers are named in a help article about reporting problems with third party games, Evolution Gaming and Pragmatic Play Live, per that article.

Table limits for those third party products are set by the supplier: minimums fall around 0.1 to 0.2 USD, there is no fixed maximum, per game caps are shown inside each game, and no maximum profit is stated, per the third party limits article.

Costs and consequences of trading in play

Two rules make active in play trading more expensive here than it first appears. Rebates are calculated on settled stakes, and both voided bets and bets you cash out are excluded from rakeback, so an in play strategy built on trading out earns nothing back.

And a live stake only counts towards the compulsory turnover on your deposit once the event ends and the bet is graded, per the wager requirement article, so betting late in a match still leaves the withdrawal gate closed until settlement.

Finally, note that clause 10.5 of the terms of service allows the house edge to be changed without notice, and no in play margin is published, so the cost of trading a live market at Stake is not a figure anyone can quote to you honestly.
